Please tell me why!!!

Why do I always say YES!!???

1. I have no backbone
2. I am a pleaser
3. I am plain stupid
4. all of the above

You got it.. 4: all of the above

I am up to my Hiney in Cupcakes, volunteering to cover not one, but two shifts for our school's annual FREAKY FRIDAY Halloween Bash (it is fun)tonight, making Agent Open House Flyers for an Agent Open house Saturday(ok I will get loans, maybe, for this) and I had to bring in enough POPCORN for my 5K's writing Workshop. Enough! Enough! Stop the madness. Help Me, I need advice to help me say no..

Signed,
I don't know all the answers where this is concerned,
Beth

Because you are just like me. You put too much pressure on yourself! You are too too nice. Hopefully one day you'll get it back in return. Like maybe we'll win the lottery??

I almost wrote a post just like that for today, because I did extra things this week and now am running around like crazy getting ready for the family who are all coming home this weekend. Of course, I am sitting here reading your blog and commenting, so things must not be too bad..haha

When you are in bed tonight - body numb and brain dead - just remember you are a great mommy, good friend, and great co-worker.

At the end of the day you will be exhausted, but satisfied and you will have had a great time.

The "other" sweet tea vodka is great too. I am taking it to the Steeple Chase this week-end....watch out people of Aiken - I am coming to town!!!

You probably won't regret doing those things when you are done, so just think of that when you are doing them. The story about the nickel cracked me up btw.

Uh, you answered your own question between the (its fun), (might get a loan). You want to say you don't want to do it but in reality you really DO want to do it. Enjoy it while you can. They will be gone in 12 short years and then you will be saying you have nothing to do....oh yeah, you have a tiger for a husband. Nevermind.

I think being spineless yes person is an epidemic. I am also one. I hate it. And then I get mad at the person who asked me whatever, when it's really ME I should be mad at.

I too shared those traits for MANY years. Here's the thing...once you go out on that limb and say "no" for the first time...well, it's a powerful thing.

At least you pitch in. I find in my community there are those who do EVERYTHING and those who do NOTHING. I saw a woman who does EVERYTHING snap at a Pop Warner Football game-it wasn't pretty.

I used to e like this. I really was. Now, I am not. Something shifted in my mind where I realized I was so busy taking care of all of these outside obligations that i never had time to just sit and be still and do nothing with my kids (or hubby). I am not saying that is you because you seem to spend a lot of great time with your children. But I know I was always rushing off to a meeting or fulfilling some obligation. I started making myself count (or wait) before I volunteered to see if someone else would volunteer. I started saying, "Oh, I would love to help but this week is really crazy for us. Call me next time."

I still volunteer and do a lot but I have scaled WAY back. Once you say no a time or two, you will actually feel empowered. this is the first year in a long time I am not a room parent at school (teachers always asked me to do it). and it is really nice to watch someone else organize it all for once.
